This edition on Sustainability: Earth Problems, Space Solutions, will be facilitated by
 Sabrina Alam, Founder & CEO, Matter Space & Defense, and Eduardo Cruz, Country Manager Airmo.

About the Facilitators

​Sabrina Alam

Founder & CEO, Matter Space and Defence

As Founder & CEO of Matter Space and Defence and formerly a Director leading KPMG’s EU Space Practice, Sabrina brings deep expertise in translating space technologies into real-world applications. She has worked across governments, institutions, and the private sector on a wide range of space and defence related initiatives.

After completing a bachelor’s degree in Theoretical Physics, Sabrina entered the space sector through a master’s at the International Space University in Strasbourg, France. Her career includes roles at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and the European Space Agency (ESA/EAC), before she specialised in sustainability within the space sector and completed her MBA. She has held senior roles at SES Satellites, where she developed and implemented the organisation’s ESG strategy, building the function and capabilities from the ground up. In her previous role at BDO, she created and led a new service line, advising clients across EU institutions and the private sector. In addition to her professional work, Sabrina is actively engaged in education and sustainability. She lectures on space and sustainability at institutions including the International Space University, EPFL, the European Institute of Innovation for Sustainability (EIIS), the Luxembourg House of Training, and universities across the UK. She has also served as Technical Manager for Space4Climate, a group chaired by the UK Space Agency, and is a mentor for the UNOOSA Space4Women programme. 

Eduardo Cruz

Country Manager of AIRMO Luxembourg

As Country Manager of AIRMO in Luxembourg, Eduardo leads the development of a space-based emissions monitoring platform supporting financial institutions, governments and regulators in managing climate transition risks. His work focuses on translating Earth observation data into actionable intelligence for sustainable finance and environmental accountability.

Eduardo brings over 15 years of experience across the space and climate technology sectors, spanning engineering, product development and executive leadership. Prior to AIRMO, he served as Chief Delivery Officer and Managing Director at GomSpace Luxembourg, where he led international teams and delivered complex, multi-million-euro programmes.

He has worked with leading European space organisations including ESA, EUMETSAT and CGI, and later at the University of Luxembourg (SnT), where he focused on technology transfer and industry partnerships.

Eduardo holds an MBA and a Master’s degree in Informatics. His work sits at the intersection of space technology, climate intelligence and financial decision-making.
